Amtivo Inc. / ASR / ISOQESMS (Apr 2023 - Present)

Owen conducts audits and supports management systems for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 registrations. His responsibilities include ensuring conformity with ISO standards, evaluating management system effectiveness, compliance with regulations, customer relations, contingency planning, root cause analysis, and providing feedback for continual improvement. He also audits OSHA regulations relevant to construction safety, including fall protection, scaffolding, hazard communication, and training requirements.

Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) (Feb 2014 - Jan 2023)

As an Integrated Lead Assessor, Owen led assessments for Quality, Environmental, and Safety management systems across diverse industries such as mining, petroleum, chemical, and manufacturing. He managed assessment teams, produced detailed reports, maintained client relationships, and ensured compliance with accreditation requirements. He also promoted LRQA’s services and maintained professional competence through continuous development.

Consulting Engagements (2004 - 2014)

Owen provided Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001 QMS consulting services to various organizations including:

  • The Trinidad Cement Limited: Facilitated strategic planning and deployment using LSSRIM, trained leadership in Six Sigma tools, and improved operational metrics such as product output and maintenance completion rates.

  • Intermediate School 59: Applied Lean Six Sigma for strategic planning, trained staff, and led improvement projects enhancing data analysis, stakeholder feedback, lesson quality, and staff training.

  • Caricom Rice Mill: Led strategic deployment, process improvement training, and achieved significant productivity and earnings increases.

  • Guyana Gold Mining Commission (GGMC): Conducted internal audits, extended ISO 9001 scope, prepared for surveillance audits, and aligned strategic goals with quality management systems leading to ISO 9001:2008 certification of the Land Management Department.

  • Woodlands Hospital: Developed strategic plans using Hoshin-Kanri, trained leadership in Six Sigma, and led projects improving patient registration, reducing bad debt, and enhancing patient satisfaction.

  • Brass, Aluminum, and Cast Iron Foundry: Applied Lean methodologies to reduce waste and improve supply chain efficiency through value-stream mapping and process mapping.

  • Bechtel Power Corp. (1980-1984): Inspected structural metal components and managed safety programs for nuclear power plant construction, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations.

Lean Six Sigma Strategic Planning; Implementation of the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System.

  • Through Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001:2008 Quality management Systems workshops, used GGMC’s strategic vision and strategic plan which are based on customer insights and mining opportunities to achieve alignment across the commission.  The vision and plan served as unifying forces to align strategic and operational goals and also to influence customer relationships.

  • Sustained performance fundamentals of customer focus, management commitment, commission-wide participation and fact-based systems analysis via an ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems’ approach and the application of FMEAs and statistical analysis tools.
